INSTRUCTIONAL MEDIA CLERK - (Central Office IMC)

I. ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVES:

Requires independent work with coordination with the media coordinator in the daily circulation of District IMC materials; prepares the District IMC catalog, updates, and mini-catalogs; circulates AV equipment; assists in the duplication and book room operations as needed.

III. POSITION RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to: Director of Instructional Media and Technology
Coordinates with: Media Services staff
Type of coordination:  As directed by administrator or others with coordination responsibilities

IV. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Desired training and experience: high school diploma, experience with computers.
  2. Special requirements of the position:
    1. Work experience in a library or media center. 
    2. Experience using data management computer programs. 
    3. Experience with batch printing. 
    4. Excellent keyboarding skills. 
    5. Ability to use complex computer programs using MARC (Machine Readable Cataloging) format. 
    6. Ability to manage a large workload. 
    7. Ability to handle detailed record keeping. 
    8. Ability to establish and maintain effective public and working relationships. 
    9. Ability to provide service to all district employees. 
    10. Experience with electronic mail.

V. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Circulation of District IMC Materials.
  2. Circulation of AV equipment.
  3. Communication with users through confirmation reports, reminders and overdue notices.
  4. Set-up and implementation of automatic rotation lists for Big Books, Read-alongs, and Early Childhood kits.
  5. Production of District IMC catalog biannually and semiannual supplements, mini- catalogs, and memos to announce new media in the collection.
  6. Supervises a student help: filling orders, cleaning films, reshelving materials.
  7. Assists duplication operator as needed.
  8. Assists bookroom clerk as needed.
  9. Assists with sorting mail from schools.
  10. Assists with the maintenance of the collection (weeding and repairing).
  11. Meets with the Media Advisory Committee on reviewing services and procedures.
  12. Orders guide for instructional television and distributes mailings from the Wisconsin Educational Communications Board.
  13. Performs other tasks as assigned.
