INSTRUCTIONAL MEDIA CLERK - (Secondary Schools)

I. ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVES:

Under supervision, to assist in instructional materials/media production; circulation and maintenance of media materials; scheduling, circulation, and operation of AV equipment; operates duplicating equipment, copy machines, and related equipment; operates word processing and data base programs on microcomputer for instructional materials, production and record keeping; provides a wide range of general clerical assistance; performs other tasks as required.

II. POSITION CHARACTERISTICS:

Salary: On schedule
Length of contract:  184+10 - Senior High Schools, 194+11 - Junior High Schools

III. POSITION RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to: Building administrator(s), building AV director
Coordinates with: Building staff and students
Type of coordination:  As directed by administrator or others with coordination responsibilities.
Supervises: Students

IV. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Desired training and experience: high school diploma, ability to operate microcomputer based word processing data base and other business programs, post-secondary training and/or experience in media.
  2. Special requirements of the position: Capability to work independently without direct supervision within stated procedures and policies; good organizational skills; mechanical aptitude; ability to operate and maintain duplicating equipment; artistic/creative aptitude, ability to perform varied and complex clerical tasks, and to prepare accurate and complete records and reports.

V. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Production Work: graphic design and layout (transparencies, signs, covers, handouts, etc.), photographic tasks (photography, slide reproduction, black and white film development, print processing), dry mounting and laminating.
  2. Circulation/operation of media materials and equipment: films, videos, small media and computer software; booking system (prepares schedules, fills orders, coordinates use, keeps records); sets up and operates a variety of AV equipment and instructs others in the use and presentation of instructional media/materials/equipment.
  3. Maintain software collection: check software in and out, keep software clean and in good repair, keep card catalog in order.
  4. Under the direction of the AV Director, supervise students in the production of media.
  5. Operate duplicating equipment.
  6. Performs general and preventive maintenance of AV equipment.
  7. Assists in maintaining inventories of media collection, media equipment and media supplies.
  8. Performs other tasks as assigned.
