LIBRARY ASSISTANT III (Book ordering)

I. ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVES:

Requires independent work with close coordination with the media coordinator in the ordering of library books; receiving of books; preparing invoices for payment; records expenditures from each schools account.

II. POSITION CHARACTERISTICS:

Salary: On schedule
Length of contract:  209+11

III. POSITION RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to: Director of Instructional Media and Technology
Coordinates with: Media Services staff
Type of coordination:  As directed by administrator or others with coordination responsibilities

IV. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A. Desired training and experience: high school diploma, experience with computers and accounting.
  2. B. Special requirements of the position:
    1. Experience using data management computer programs. 
    2. Excellent keyboarding skills. 
    3. Ability to manage a large workload. 
    4. Ability to handle detailed record keeping. 
    5. Experience with electronic mail. 
    6. Experience using a computer spreadsheet. 
    7. Ability to solve problems independently.

V. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Searches computer databases and District library automation system for ordering information.
  2. Prepares and submits library book orders for all school media centers.
  3. Prepares and sends orders electronically when possible.
  4. Receives and checks in all orders.
  5. Authorizes invoices for payment.
  6. Records expenditures from each account for each school on computer spreadsheet.
  7. Sends regular budget balance reports to media specialists.
  8. Contacts vendors by telephone to solve problems.
  9. Performs other tasks as assigned.
