I. ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVES:
Requires independent work with close coordination with the media
coordinator and the other library assistants. Great attention to detail
and accuracy is required.
II. POSITION CHARACTERISTICS:
Salary: On schedule
Length of contract: 194+11
III. POSITION RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to: Director of Instructional Media and Technology
Coordinates with: Media Services staff
Type of coordination: As directed by administrator or others
with coordination responsibilities
IV. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Desired training and experience: high school diploma, experience
with computers.
- Special requirements of the position:
- Work experience in a library or media center.
- Experience using data management computer programs.
- Experience with batch printing.
- Excellent keyboarding skills.
- Ability to use complex computer programs using MARC (Machine
Readable Cataloging) format.
- Ability to manage a large workload.
- Ability to handle detailed record keeping.
V. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Searches for new or existing main entry for books and AV.
- Completes data entry for new and duplicate records.
- Prints spine labels.
- Loads new bibliographic records onto library automation system, the
District union catalog.
- Adds holdings to bibliographic records on the library automation
system.
- Completes withdrawals from the library automation system.
- Enters changes and deletions to statewide database, WISCAT.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
