LIBRARY ASSISTANT I (Library Processor)

I. ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVES:

This position requires the responsibility of managing the physical processing of materials to be sent to the schools.

II. POSITION CHARACTERISTICS:

Salary: On schedule
Length of contract:  206

III. POSITION RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to: library Media Coordinator
Coordinates with: Media Department staff
Type of coordination:  As directed by administrator or others with coordination responsibilities

IV. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Desired training and experience: graduation from high school including or supplemented by coursework in typing; recent responsible office work experience.
  2. Special requirements of the position:
    1. Minimal typing skills. 
    2. Ability to process resources with precision

 

V. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Processes books: applies spine labels and label protectors; stamps with identification; puts covers on books.
  2. Processes nonprint: applies call labels to each item in kit; marks each item with school identification; converts storage boxes for nonprint.
  3. Maintains even work flow in processing room.
  4. Type titles of kits and apply to spines, when needed.
  5. Keeps monthly count of materials sent to each school in each category.
  6. Packs materials to be sent to the schools.
  7. Assists other members of the department as work loads vary.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.
