I. ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVES:
To provide maintenance and repair of audiovisual and computer equipment
in the school district and provide technical support as needed.
II. POSITION CHARACTERISTICS:
Salary: On schedule
Length of contract: 12 months
III. POSITION RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to: Technology Repair/Support Supervisor, Executive
Director of Technology
Coordinates with: Media Department staff, district staff
Type of coordination: As directed by administrator or others
with coordination responsibilities
IV. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Desired training and experience: graduation from an electronic
training course; minimum of two years of experience in the maintenance
of AV, TV, microcomputer or related electronic equipment; A+
certification. Apple repair certification.
- Special requirements of the position:
- Knowledge of the proper use, maintenance, and repair of a wide
variety of audiovisual and other electronic equipment.
- Knowledge of computer related systems.
- Ability to maneuver heavy electronic equipment and climb ladders
up to 10 feet in height.
- Strong communication skills.
- Valid drivers license.
- Ability to work as a member of a team.
- Be able to use all shop tools safely.
- Ability to work independently within buildings throughout the
district and outside the district to provide complete and
satisfactory support, repair of all computer related
systems.
- Ability to establish and maintain good working
relationships.
- Willingness to attend training when necessary.
- Knowledge of the theory, circuitry, and principles of
electronics, including reading schematic diagrams.
- Knowledge of the standard diagnostic and repair procedures
utilized to service equipment.
- Ability to adapt to many improvements and changes in modern
electronic equipment.
- Ability to maintain good service records.
- Knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot and provide general
maintenance for microcomputers and peripheral equipment.
V. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Network Operations Center Duties: (4-Hours)
- Read & understand what's up.
- Read & evaluate server event logs.
- Provide server maintenance. (power up, down, restart services)
- Install & maintain X- counter.
- Maintain user accounts.
- Add printers to print servers.
- Maintain auditron for elementary buildings.
- Cover for help desk.
- Help with veritas backups.
- Keep up with changes in server & software products.
- Provide assistance to secondary coordinators.
- In Shop Duties: (4-Hours)
- Provide general maintenance and repair for all computers,
monitors, and printers.
- Provide general maintenance and repair for all audiovisual
equipment.
- Order parts necessary to repair equipment.
- Set up of all new computer systems.
- Provide help or advise using email or telephone support.
- Log in equipment and maintain service records.
- Use Altiris for installing all software into each computer over
the network.
- Study for all tests that must be passed in order maintain
certification for computer repair.
- On Site Duties: (during tech days & other assignments)
- Setup of computers and peripherals.
- Setup and maintenance of data closets and network electronics.
- Pick up and delivery of equipment when necessary.
- Installation of ceiling mounted T.V. and data projectors.
- Scoreboard repair in secondary buildings.
- Repair of public address systems.
- Attend meetings when necessary.
- Provide technical support to all buildings as scheduled.
- Installation of small cabling projects.
- Ability to travel to other school districts outside of ECASD to
provide support, maintenance, and repair services.
- All other duties as assigned.
*This position is supported by income derived from other schools and
school districts in the Western Wisconsin region and is dependent on this
income to continue as a ECASD support staff/technology position.
