I. ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVES:
Under limited supervision, to provide assistance in preparation and
processing of payrolls; to tabulate and record employee absences; and to
perform related work as required.
II. POSITION CHARACTERISTICS:
Salary: On schedule
Length of contract: 12 months
III. POSITION RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to: Assistant Superintendent for Business and
Finance, Director of Finance
Coordinates with: Business Department personnel, data
processing, district staff
Type of coordination: As directed by administrator or others
with coordination responsibilities
IV. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Desired training and experience: Completion of an
accounting/bookkeeping program from a technical school or college;
recent responsible bookkeeping work experience, preferably including
payroll processing; experience/training in word processing and/or
computers.
- Special requirements of the position:
- Knowledge of state and departmental payroll policies and
procedures.
- Knowledge of federal and state reporting requirements.
- Ability to prepare and reconcile payroll summaries.
- Ability to understand and interpret leave programs and
policies.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with fellow
employees.
- Ability to develop and maintain work deadlines.
- Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy.
- Possesses effective human relations skills.
V. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares input for data processing of biweekly payroll of substitute
teachers.
- Records all employee absences and distributes statements and notices
pertaining to sick leave, payroll, insurance, retirement, and other
related materials.
- Files general payroll and information and records.
- Sorts payroll for distribution.
- Records bond deductions, purchases bonds, and records serial
numbers.
- Interprets applications of sick leave and vacation.
- Computes costs of contracts and performs other payroll and related
work as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
