PC/SUPPORT SPECIALIST

I. ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVES:

To serve as a support person in the Computer Center performing duties which involve the set up and operation of PC's, other off-line and on-line equipment, and related work as required.

II. POSITION CHARACTERISTICS:

Salary: On schedule
Length of contract:  12 months

III. POSITION RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to: Director of Data Processing
Coordinates with: Computer Center, district staff
Type of coordination:  As directed by administrator or others with coordination responsibilities

IV. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Required qualifications:
    1. Minimum of Associate Degree in Data Processing 
    2. Ability to communicate effectively. 
    3. Knowledge in microcomputer setup and installation of software applications. (Example: word processing, spreadsheet, communications.) 
    4. Minimum of one year in troubleshooting problems of hardware and software on microcomputers.
  2. Desired qualifications:
    1. Two or more years of work experience in Data Processing which should have included experience in providing training in micro computer usage in an educational environment. 
    2. Experience setting up networks and installing associated network software. 
    3. Technical skills with PC's and printers. 
    4. Ability to establish and maintain effective public and working relationships. 
    5. Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in applications involving data processing.
    6. Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions. 
    7. Ability to operate on-line/off-line equipment. 
    8. Ability to perform other duties as needs of position determine.

V. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Serves as backup for entering of data for payroll, accounting and all other district applications.
  2. Serves as HELPDESK for district applications and coordinates al district helpdesk software and processes.
  3. Provides information to staff regarding data preparation.
  4. Provides assistance in troubleshooting microcomputer hardware/software.
  5. Performs clerical duties for computer center.
  6. Assists in other functions as determined by the Director of Data Processing.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.
