I. ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVES:
The Webmaster will be responsible for implementing the ongoing
development of the Eau Claire Area School District's websites and assist
in other Network Operations Center tasks.

III. POSITION RELATIONSHIPS:
Recruited by: Executive Director of Technology
Reports to: Network Manager
Coordinates with: Building Staff, District Staff
IV. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Required experience and training: Minimum of Associate Degree in
Technology or Related Field-or active enrollment in a program to
complete such training.
- Desired experience and training: Two or more years web development
experience with Windows NT/2000, IIS (4.0, 5.0 and 6.0). Four-year
degree in Technology Related Field. Advanced proficiency with HTML,
including style sheets, templates, complex tables and image maps. Must
be able to program forms and implement scripts using languages such as
ASP, Perl, CGI, Java, C, C++, Visual Basic, VB Script. Working
knowledge of Cisco Call Manager. Working knowledge of basic
composition, page layout, art and presentation packages such as
FrontPage, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Illustrator,
Photoshop.
- General Skills: · Ability to work independently with minimal
supervision. · Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to communicate clearly with individual computing users on
all levels - in small groups, one on one, and in writing. · Strong
design sense along with a methodical attention to detail. ·
Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver multiple projects on time,
and maintain an efficient/timely daily work schedule.
V. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create enhancements and modifications to our web sites; organize and
maintain the site; assess new standards, technologies and trends, and
formulate strategies and plans for enhancing the site.
- Produce a consistent visual image on the site by promoting uniform
fonts, formatting, icons, images, layout techniques, and
modularization, including maintenance of template and image archives.
- Determine appropriate compression techniques, resolutions, sizes,
color maps, and depths to insure that images are delivered to the
viewer at sufficiently high speed and quality.
- Ensure that all Webmaster mail receive timely responses.
- Analyze web log files and report on a weekly basis.
- Enable school staff and departments to publish their own pages on
the web for the academic purposes of the School.
- Advise the staff on good practice for publishing material on the
web.
- Creation of web-based applications using Microsoft tools &
technologies
- Optimize websites in the NT/2000 environment.
- Clearly document features, technical specifications, and
infrastructure requirements for self-produced technical work and job
processes.
- Continuously monitor industry trends, technologies, and standards.
- Research, recommend, and apply new technologies as they emerge.
- Assist elementary school staff with staff and student network
account creation and trouble-shooting.
- Provide additional support for Network Operations as directed by
Network Manager.
- Provide management and administrative support of the telephone
system, including training/orientation for staff and administration.
This could include service to partner organizations.
- Provide training and support for IP Video conferencing.
- Other duties as assigned.
